Masala chips with salad. This is my own version of how to make chips masala (which is basically ready fries in a tomato based spicy sauce or chilly sauce ),guacamole,(kachumbari). Kenyan masala chips are french fries with a coating of spicy, tomato sauce. I enjoyed this dish when I lived in Kenya.

Ingredients of Masala chips with salad

  2. It's of Chillies sauce.
  3. You need of Coriander.
  4. It's 1 of small onion.
  5. You need 3 cloves of garlic.
  6. Prepare 2 tablespoons of wheat flour.
  7. It's of Ginger.
  8. You need of Salt.
  9. You need of Vinegar.
  10. It's of Carrots.
  11. You need of Cabbage.
  12. Prepare of Honey.
  13. It's of Cooking oil.
  14. It's of Potatoes.
  15. It's of Black pepper.

Chop the potatoes and slice them to chips sizes and deep fry the till crunchy. Kenyan Masala Chips / fries are cooked in a spicy sauce and finished off with fresh lemon juice for that tangy flavor. It is one of those dishes that are so. Kenyan masala chips are french fries with a coating of spicy, tomato sauce.

Masala chips with salad instructions

  1. For the salad, grate carrots and finely chop the cabbage, mix approximately 50ml each, of honey and vinegar. Mix the honey, vinegar carrot and cabbage, then chill..
  2. Peel the potatoes,cut them into chipsand soak them in vinegar for 10 minutes. Blanch the potatoes..
  3. Deep fry the chips and drain them..
  4. Combine grated ginger, garlic,onion with tomato sauce, chili sauce, wheat flour, Black pepper, salt and coriander to form a runny paste. Shallow fry for a minute on low heat, then put your fried chips. Turn gently for a minute and ensure the sauce covers the chips..
  5. Serve with the salad and your preferred drink, mine being passion juice..

I enjoyed this dish when I lived in Kenya. This is a unique Kenyan dish. My version of these Kenyan style masala chips takes the ordinary chips to a whole new level. They are saucy and spicy, yet crispy. The masala coats the chips perfectly and its the best dish to create for those quick lunches.
